The Coleraine & District RDA

Introduction

The Coleraine & District Group of the Riding for the Disabled Association is affiliated to the National Association, which operates throughout the UK.

The group provides horse riding and driving opportunities for disabled persons, from the whole Causeway Coast Area. The process involves the use of nine horses – in groups not exceeding six – with a leader and side-walkers for each horse. All members of the Group are volunteers, receiving no recompense. The Group works with both physically and mentally handicapped persons.

The objectives of the Group are to seek to provide opportunities for Riding and Driving experiences for both physically and mentally handicapped persons.

The Group has been in existence for well over 25 years, and is responsible for raising funds, erecting the existing premises and managing these on an ongoing basis.
