I know all of the horses out at RDA but I was wondering how you choose the suitable horses to use?

A very good question, LAURA!, and a good start to your own site. The horses we use are generally very experienced, and 'well-on' in years. They have to be of good temperament, intelligent, and active, but not overactive. Each new horse needs to be assessed as being suitable by a Qualified RDA Senior Instructor. They clearly enjoy RDA work, and get to know the routines. The RDA at Coleraine uses NINE horses, in groups of SIX at a time. We have measured them all, and have a weight chart, which allows us to select accordibg to the particular rider. THREE horses, Jack, Harry and Mr Man, are loaned for the RDA season by Watertop Trekking Centre, Ballycastle - Thank you Patsy McBride, ONE, Danny, is on permanent loah from Dr Eileen Coleman, again, Thanks. The other FIVE, Dolly, Brandy, Murphy, Midnight and Swift, belong to the Group.
